Genetic, molecular and biochemical studies on the accumulation of bioactive compounds in Cannabis sativa L.

19 March, 2025, 11:00 AM

Dr. Roberta Paris studied at the Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna, where she obtained the PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2006. She is a permanent researcher at Council for Agricultural Research and Economic, Research Centre for Cereal and Industrial Crops, Bologna site (Italy). She has experience in biotechnology and molecular biology mainly applied to industrial crops. Present research interests include Genetics and Functional Genomics in Cannabis sativa L. (hemp and drug-type), especially focused on cannabinoid synthase genes isolation and characterization but also extended to other secondary metabolites such as flavonoids and terpenes. From 2016, she participated to several national projects on cannabis, and presently she is involved as co-coordinator in the National project CaRIFIT 2022 focused on seed hemp breeding and research. She is member of the national “Hemp supply chain” commission instituted by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture in 2019 and of the scientific committee of EIHA (European Industrial Hemp Association).
