Brain Function Outcomes of Recent and Lifetime Cannabis Use
Joshua Gowin, PhD, is an Associate Professor within the Department of Radiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. As a neuroscientist, his primary research program investigates the neural mechanisms of addiction, specifically focusing on how substance use alters frontostriatal circuitry and brain reward processing. Utilizing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), Dr. Gowin analyzes the neural substrates underlying risk-processing, reward, and clinical relapse prediction. He earned his doctorate in behavioral neuroscience from UT Health Houston and has widely published on the neurobiology of substance use disorders.
