Cannabinoids: From the Plant to the Gut

Dr. Joshua Kellogg is an Assistant Professor at the Pennsylvania State University, where his lab employs transdisciplinary approaches at the interface of analytical chemistry, chemical biology, natural product chemistry, and molecular biology to further human, plant, animal, and environmental health. His team works to develop new metabolomics tools for analyzing complex biological systems, discover novel therapeutics from natural sources (including plant, fungal, and marine species) that treat infectious and chronic diseases, and develop participatory ethnobotany research programs to better understand how natural resources impact health. Dr. Kellogg obtained his PhD in natural product chemistry and ethnobotanical nutrition with Dr. Mary Ann Lila at North Carolina State University and completed an NIH-funded postdoc in the laboratory of Dr. Nadja Cech at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, investigating relative contributions of natural product mixtures to bioactivity.
