Preclinical Assessment of Cannabinoid-Based Medications for Treatment of Multidimensional Opiod Withdrawal
January 2024
Cassie Moore, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Behavioral Biology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her research uses animal models to explore the balance between potential benefits and consequences of cannabinoid-based medications. Recent projects have been focused on the treatment of opioid withdrawal by cannabinoids and novel compounds targeting the endocannabinoid system. Other ongoing projects in the lab are assessing the effects of vaped or orally administered cannabinoids (e.g., Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD)) and terpenes (e.g., alpha-pinene, limonene) on behaviors including reward, attention, and anxiety-like behavior.
